Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And Danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --- wheeled and soared and swung,
High in the sunlight silence.
Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung,
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
Where never the lark, or even eagle flew,
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

OUR HONORED DEAD

There were some Kiowa County Soldiers that did not come home from World War l, World War ll, Korea and Viet Nam. They gave their lives that we may continue to be a free nation. May we always remember the sacrifices these men made and pray they did not die in vain. It is up to us, the living and descendents of these soldiers, to make sure their deaths are remembered, and the reason for their deaths. Some made it home and died years later, but still carried the scars of war.

Summer 2000, while I was Kiowa County, I searched for information on our Kiowa County soldiers that were Killed In Action and Missing In Action-Presumed Dead from the above wars our country was involved in during the 20th century. I am sure there are still some names missing from this list. If you know of more soldiers, please send their names and information to me so they can be added.

I am also searching for the names and information on our Indian service men and women that were KIA-MIA in those actions. Readers, if you know of these soldiers, please send their names and information to me to be posted.

To the memory of those men and women who so nobly gave their lives for their country.......we bow our heads in their memory and offer a silent prayer that they have not died in vain.........................
