ELK CREEK -- KIOWA TRIBAL BURIAL GROUNDS

South of Hobart, Oklahoma

The Kiowa Burial grounds is located about 5 miles south of Hobart, OK and about 1/2 mile back east, on the road the locals call Ice Plant Road. Buried here are many of the Notable Kiowa, including Chief Lone Wolf

Scattered throughout the Cemetery are markers of unknown graves.


This tombstone for Chief Lone Wolf is very visible in the cemetery. It states "Brought his people to Christianity and Civilization. QUO PAH KO appointed chief in 1883. United States Scout in 1883. Deacon of Elk Creek Baptist Church. Invited to the White House by the President in 1922 for the last time."
