Kiowa County Queries
SHADWICK
An aunt told me that there was a connection of the SHADWICK surname with
Hobart, OK. She didn't say what. Would someone be kind enough to check, especially
marriages, deeds and tribal links? Or give me possible sources to check from
cold, cold Wisconsin? Family tradition says SHADWICKS were Cherokee/Osage who
ended up in MO about 1838 from TN. jfarris@execpc.com

RILEY, PERRY
I'm searching for descendents of William Owen RILEY, b. c1870's, no dates
as to birth or death, and his wife, Allie, no last name. William Owen is the
father of 8-10 boys, one of them being my grandfather, Charlie Edwin RILEY,
b. June 23, 1895, In Indian Territory, Hobart (?) Oklahoma. I do believe both
families were in or near Hobart. His wife, my grandmother, was Nancy Mae(May)
PERRY, b. Feb. 3, 1896, Texas. Charlie Edwin and Nancy Mae were married in
1914,
in Hobart, OK. The boys of William Owen RILEY may have had a different mother
than Allie, I was told that their mother died and their father remarried.
I
think that 2nd marriage may have been Allie. I also believe that quite a few
of these descendents (from those 2 families) may still be in the Hobart area.
Nancy's parents were James Perry and Aminta Christine Barger, b. Tennessee.
Charley and Nancy left Oklahoma never to return. Both died in Eugene, OR,
Nancy,
Oct.4, 1951 and Charley, 1970's. Thank you for any help. Please contact Linda
Adams at Lindakincaidadams@comcast.net
BAKER, DAVIS, HARRIS
I am searching for information on my family. My grandfather was Paul DAVIS,
who married Gladys BAKER. My mother, LaMarylis, was their youngest child. Other
children were Anna Paulene, James Lawrence, William Perry and Ralph Leo. William
and Ralph died in a housefire when they were about 7 and 9 years old in Hobart,
OK. Paul DAVIS was Sheriff for a while, later moving to Oklahoma City. My mother,
LaMarylis, born in Hobart, Sept. 23, 1924, was raised by Charles L. HARRIS and
his wife, Willie Sara (DAVIS). Uncle Charlie and Aunt Willie lived just west
of Hobart. Later they ran a nursery for children, which they called a play school.
Other DAVIS relatives in the area included Abe and Jay. I believe my grandmother
BAKER and Charlie and Willie HARRIS are buried there. My mother, LaMarylis,
worked at a bank in Hobart. When the first shipment of nylon hose arrived at
Brown's Dept. Store next door, a reporter for the Dailey Oklahoman asked her
to model them, which she did. Her picture was on the front page of the paper.
