Looking for family information on Sarah L. "Vena" RILEY, b c1879, TX, married Frank GREGG. The RILEY and GREGG families were originally from Jack Co. TX. Frank and Vena may have married in either NM or OK. The following could be a census record for this family, but it is unknown at this time. 1920 Kiowa CO: Frank W. GREGG 48 TX; Bell M. 44 AR; John H. 27 TX; Anna 17 OK; Zelma F. 14 OK; Lynn B. 5 OK. If anyone has any information on this family, please contactSharon

My relatives arrived in Oklahoma, near Gotebo about 1902. My great grandfather was James C. KELLY, my grandfather was John Daniel PEAVLER. I have been researching both families and came across an entry in the cemetery section of the Kiowa County Genealogy page. In the Uniondale Cemetery, there was listed a KELLEY, and also a KEON, Mary KELLY. The third youngest of James KELLY's children was named Mary. She was born in Feb. 1895, in KY. My uncle, the last surviving son of John Daniel PEAVLER, had indicated that William KELLY, the son of James KELLY was likely buried in UnionDale Cemetery. He was the brother of Mary KELLY. Are there any Sexton's records for this cemetery, or any other source that I might contact to get more information on William or Mary? My uncle did not remember an Aunt Mary, but did recall an Uncle Willie KELLY. Any help would be appreciated. Please contactJim Peavler

I'm looking for others researching the family of John Henry CARLTON and Sarah ELizabeth HILLYARD. Their daughter, Etta Green CARLTON and her husband Robert Pneuno HALL were living near Roosevelt, in Kiowa County, by 1905. After John Henry died in 1905, his widow and some of his remaining children moved to Kiowa County. The children were: William Henry, George Winfield, Ruth May(married Carl CHANCE), Grace Cornelius (married Charles WEYRICK), and Earl Raymond. Another child of John Henry CARLTON, Martin Van Buren CARLTON, may also have spent some time in Kiowa County, but returned to Texas. Please contact Ann McGuffey

Seeking information on Dr. William Fletcher PEARSON and Helen "Nellie" CALHOUN, who married in 1895 in Howe, Grayson CO. TX. They lived in Mountain View, Kiowa County, OK ca1895-1902, and north of Sweetwater, Roger Mills County from about 1903 until Dr. PEARSON's death in 1905. He is buried there in Mulberry Cemetery. Searching for ancestors and descendents of NEIGHBORS, JOHNSON, ODOM, HOSS in Kiowa County. Henry Oscar NEIGHBORS, born about 1892, died about 1929 in OK. He married Mildred "Millie" JOHNSON born on OK, died Nov. 1973, Tulare Co. CA. They were married in OK and had one son, Alvin Hix "Jim" NEIGHBORS, born 30 Oct. 1913 in Hobart, OK, died 12 Feb. 1992, Porterville, CA. Alvin married 24 May, 1934 in Chickasha OK to Katherine Nannie ODOM, born 19 May, 1916, in Duncan, Stephens Co. OK, died 8 July 1982 Poterville, CA. Mildred JOHNSON's second husband was Dewey HOSS, born in OK, died 1972 in Porterville, CA. They married in 1929 and had 2 children, Virgil HOSS and Betty Lou HOSS, both born in OK. Betty Lou died Aug. 1976, Bakersfield, Kern CO. CA. It is believed that Henry Oscar NEIGHBORS had a farm and after his death, widow Mildred married their hired hand, Dewey HOSS. I am searching for SIMS in Kiowa County, My grandfather was Howell Abner SIMMS, born in Roosevelt, OK, Feb. 16, 1912. He was born to Ida Adeline HARVICK and Charles Green SIMMS. He married Lois Avis SHOCKLEY on Nov. 29, 1930 in Roosevelt. Howell Abner SIMMS had a brothers named Melvin, DeWitt, and Gresham. Charles Abner SIMMS had a brother, David. I have no contact or information on David SIMMS. I am especially searching for Charles SIMMS' parents Thomas and Lillah Green Hinkle DIAL-SIMMS. I have no information on where they came from. I am researching the SHELTON surname, and I believe that I have found my gggrandfather's grave in the Gotebo Cemetery, Gotebo, Kiowa Co. OK. On the tombstone, it has his name Elias C. SHELTON and B G L R Co. D 8 TN....it doesn't have any dates so I can't be sure he is the right one, could have been an uncle. Does anyone have any information on the Elias buried in Gotebo? My Elias was b. Apr. 1847, GA, d. after 1904, probably ca 1927. He married Mary T. ODEN in AL and then they moved to Ellis CO. TX, later lived in Greer and Ellis CO. OK. Mary died in 1904 and is buried in the Navajo Cemetery, Navajo, Jackson Co. OK. My family has been told that he remarried and had another child with the new wife, name unknown, and child unknown. View, Kiowa Co., OK until their deaths. Looking to verify their Father's & Mother's name. Viola Lucille was married to Lige(Elijah?)SHOOK who owned/operated a chevrolet dealership in Mt. View. I am looking for information on any WYRICK in Kiowa Co. Alfred WYRICK b. 1835 d. aft 1900 in Kiowa Co. His wife, Polly H., and son, John Young, b. 1878 are listed on the 1920 Kiowa Co., OK Census in Mtn View Twp. It is believed that Alfred, Polly, and other children are buried in Kiowa Co. Alfred & Polly's children were: Adam Green b. 1863; William Sherman b. 1866, Margaret L. b. 1868, A. B. (female) b. 1871; John Young b. abt 1878; Simon D. b. 1878 m. Senia SWEETMAN; and Alfred Gilbert b. 1881 m. May Bell WILLIAMS. It is believed that William Sherman WYRICK was shot and killed while being mistaken for his brother, Adam Green, by a sherriff. Searching for information on family of my birthfather. I was born 11/6/1930, at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Texas.Adopted through Hope Cottage, Dallas. Birthparents were Leroy and Marie JOHNSON. Leroys' family was living in Hobart at the time of my birth. Unable to tell from Hope Cottage files whether Leroy Knew about my birth. I have a sister born 11/25/1927, whom I have never seen. Leroy and Marie were divorced before my birth. Birthparents were living in Abilene, Texas before my birth. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. HUDSON.....Trying to find information about Will, Monroe HUDSON and their families and their mother MARY ELIZABETH (FRANK) HUDSON. They left Coryell Co., TX and moved to Oklahoma settling around Hobart about 1910-1918. Some of the Hudson's may have settled in Roosevelt I have never been able to contact any descendants of this family. Mary Elizabeth (Frank) HUDSON was my great grandmother. She was born in Louisiana and m. WILLIAM HUDSON 30 Oct 1867 in Union Co., AR. She was born about 1848 and was the daughter of HENRY FRANKS and NANCY CROW also of Louisiana and to Coryell Co. I would like to know where and when she died. Also about other members of her family. I feel sure she died in OK. I will be more than happy to exchange information. I am looking for information about Frank LUGERT who started the town of Lugert, Oklahoma back in 1901. I would like to find his grandchildren and great grandchildren Frank's children: Theresa LUGERT who married a LEWIS, Leona Catherine LUGERT who married Hezzie BROUGHTON, Marqueritte LUGERT who married a JARNAGIN and then remarried a Horace JONES. Also would like to know what happened to Frank Mathew LUGERT who died in 1946. NEED HELP!! I'm searching for HENRY GRIFFITH, my Great uncle, who we believe to have died , in or around Hobart, in the year 1969. Family rumor had it that he was transported by pick up out of the state for burial. Could some one tell me if there is a microfilm of the local newspaper for the obituaries of that year?
