Pleasant Ridge Cemetery

Pleasant Ridge School was located 2 miles west and 4 1/2 miles north of Hobart. It was a one room school from 1902 through 1935/36. It served as the meeting place for the Cambridge community for box suppers, programs, and Christmas Programs.

Cambridge was a small one-horse town, sometimes referred to as "Dog Trot". It was located about 2 miles south, and 1 1/4 miles west of the school. With towns springing up all over Kiowa County it just wasn't destined for Cambridge to survive it's childhood. Lone Wolf was close to the south, Sentinel in Washita County to the North, and Hobart to the southeast.

The first building erected was a store owned by E.W. Smith, later owned by Doc Hensley who operated the post office, bringing mail from Lone Wolf by buggy. The store remained the gathering place for farmers in the area, long after nothing but a grain elevator was there. Dave and Lola Gingrich were the last owners, operating it for years.
