PRINCES FROM ENGLAND
One of the Prince lines started when Edward Prince, born 1609 in Gloucester,
England, came to the Colonies. It has been speculated by some that Edward's
father was William Prince 1584-1630, ENG, married to Ann. Edward married Mary
Yate, born in Gloucester. They migrated to the Colonies about 1635 and in 1639
were located in Charles City Co. VA. They had 3 known children, of which George
and Richard, we have not found any information. The third son, John, we have
found information on. John was born 1659 in Sussex Co. VA. He married Sarah
? John and Sarah had 2 known sons, Edward, born 1680, and John born 1688. Some
of the descendents of Edward migrated from Sussex Co. VA to Surry Co. VA, Brunswick
NC and Rutherford NC. Descendents of John moved into Fredrick Co. VA and SC.
Edward Prince, born 1609 England, is also the PROBABLE ancestor of
others of our Prince researchers, through his son John b. 1659 and the other
known son of John, Edward born 1680 in Sussex Co. VA. Edward married Rebecca
Tyler about 1704 and their children were Edward and Joseph. This is one of the
cases of a "strong probability" of descendency, lacking the final physical clue
to tie it together.
It is supposed by some that the following descendents of Rev. John
Prince (#3.) are descendents of Edward Prince but this is not proven. As of
now, they are only descendents of Rev. John Prince and Margaret Prou.
