GUI-K'ATE (Wolf Lying Down, Sleeping Wolf)
and wife,
1872
Winter of 1872 a group of Kiowa met with a peace commission and
agreed to send delegates to Washington. Lone Wolf, Woman Heart, Red Otter, Do
ha'san (son of Chief Do ha'san) Sun Boy and Stumbling Bear met with the
commission on the Washita and consented to send delegates if their imprisoned
chiefs, Set-T'ainte and Big Tree be allowed to meet them at some point, or if
five delegates were sent, the prisoners be allowed to go with them. The Kiowa
delegation sent was Lone Wolf, the head chief, Sun Boy and Gui-k'ate (Wolf Lying
