1789 WILL OF JOSEPH PRINCE
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

In the name of God amen. Whereas I, JOSEPH PRINCE of the State of North
Carolina and the County of Rutherford, being in a low and
weak state of health but of sound and perfect sense and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament I give and bequeath to my dear beloved wife REBECKAH PRINCE two feather beds and furniture, one horse, seven head of cattle, nineteen head of hogs, one iron pot, one frying pan, one Dutch oven, four
dishes, one basin, and all other of my household furniture too tedious to mention.
Then after all my just debts being paid, I give unto my dearly beloved wife
REBECKAH PRINCE all bonds, notes of hand bills of sale and all other
instruments of writing appertaining to any value to her only use and behalf
freely? forever.
I give and bequeath to my son JOHN PRINCE five shillings to him and his heirs
forever.
I give and bequeath to my son WILLIAM PRINCE five shillings to him and his heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my son JOEL PRINCE five shillings to him and his heir
forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter MARY IVY five shillings to her and her
heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my sons PETER BURNETT, JOSEPH BURNETT, DANIEL PRINCE, NATHAN PRINCE, DAVID PRINCE, and EDWARD PRINCE, my tract of land containing two hundred seventy acres, be the same more or less, to them and each of them and their heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter MARTHA PRINCE five shillings to her and
her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter TABBY PRINCE five shillings to her and her heirs forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter ELIZABETH PRINCE five shillings to her and her heirs forever.
Now having ended and concluded this my Last Will and Testimony agreeable to
my actual will and happy satisfaction do end and resign? all worldly enjoyments. I appoint my dearly beloved wife REBECKAH PRINCE and JESSE BURNETT these my Executors to handle, manage and dispose of my estate in behalf of my children as is herein mentioned. Now having fully ended, I acknowledge this my Last Will and Testimony in the presents of:
