My great-great grandmother, Mary Ann Williams Prince was a Cherokee, born May 1838 in Alabama. My great grandfather, Ezekiel Cherry Crisp was also Cherokee, born April, 1851 in Arkansas. Trying to locate their families and connecting them to the Cherokee is a daunting task. Possibly, Mary Ann and her family came to Arkansas when the Cherokee along with the Creek, Chickasaw, Choctaw and Seminole were removed from the Southeast in 1839.
Ezekiel's family moved from Georgia, through Mississippi, Lousiana into Arkansas. This is the task I have before me. In searching for them, the following sources are some good ones I have come across. If you are also searching for Native American roots, maybe some of these will point you in the right direction. Since I was raised in SW Oklahoma, among the Kiowa, Comanche and Kiowa Apache, I have included some of those that I have come across.
